Founded at the end of the s. XIV, it was in its beginnings a small pious that was expanded with the acquisition of the adjoining houses, being from the year 1479 by nuns of the Jerónimas order. They had for many years the patronage of the Golfín family who had their pantheons inside the church.
It was confiscated in the 19th century, demolishing some of its buildings, and the property was transferred to the Cáceres County Council, which installed the headquarters of its presidency in the building.
The main portal and the coats of arms on the façade come from an old seminary founded by Bishop Galarza in the 16th century and which was demolished in the middle of the 20th century.
