The initiative “Cáceres Intelligent Heritage” is a project of the City Council of Cáceres selected in the II Call for Intelligent Cities in the framework of the Digital Agenda for Spain.
It is developed through a collaboration agreement with RED.ES, a public business entity of the Ministry of Economy and Enterprise and is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The initiative “Cáceres Intelligent Heritage” is proposed as a tool to achieve the strategic objective of social and economic welfare of citizens of the municipality.
A city that manages its resources more efficiently and sustainably and offers its citizens better services is built using information and communication technologies (ICTs) based on digital infrastructure and digital services.
Among the different technological developments of the initiative we found this Web Portal of Tourist Information of Cáceres, one of the reference tools for tourism in a city like Cáceres, designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The Web Portal offers a new channel of tourist information and cultural agenda and city’s events not only to visitors to Cáceres but also to all citizens.
This new instrument allows a greater interaction between tourists and the different resources and services of the city, as well as the development of a comprehensive tourism experience, including the three tourist stages: before, during and after the trip.
The Portal allows more effective planning and decision making by enabling the collection of information, its analysis and diagnosis. Likewise, it constitutes an important instrument for economic development, as it improves communication between visitors to the city and the tourist business network of Cáceres.
