124 kilometres from Cáceres along the N-630 to Plasencia and from there along the N-110 to Jerte you will reach the Garganta de los Infiernos. It was declared a Natural Reserve in 1994. It is located within the municipalities of Tornavacas, Cabezuela del Valle and Jerte. There are three Interpretation Centres, one in each of the municipalities that make up the reserve. A very varied flora with holm oaks, chestnut trees, oaks, ash trees, holly trees... inhabited by the booted eagle, buzzard, goshawk, sparrowhawk, owl... and, in the highest areas, the golden eagle, the peregrine falcon, the griffon vulture and the mountain goat. Its rivers of very clean water are the habitat of the trouts and barbels. Inside the Garganta de los Infiernos (Hell's Throat) it is a must to visit Los Pilones, circular shaped pools produced by the erosion that the water has been forming on the granite bed of the river.
Several companies are dedicated to carrying out nature activities within these natural spaces. Some of the services they offer are: equestrian tourism, trekking, rafting, climbing, water skiing, bungee jumping, canoeing, aerial excursions, photographic safaris, etc.
