The Palace of the Marquis of Oquendo is located in the Plaza de San Juan, it is also known as the Palace of the descendants of Rodrigo de Ovando. On the façade, in addition to padded ornaments, you can see the shields of Ulloa and Narváez, arms of the Marquis of Oquendo, owners of the palace until 1980.
Inside, the hallway gives access to a patio in which, in 1997, a shield made of marble was installed with the arms of Ovando, Flores, Cárdenas and Gutiérrez, joined with the Cross of Alcántara, which correspond to the sons of the marriage of Pedro José de Ovando and Lucía Josefa Flores, owners of the palace around 1630.
In 1990 a deep restoration was carried out in order to rescue the architectural value of the original building, and the Hotel Meliá Cáceres was installed in this palace, today the Hotel NH Palacio de Oquendo is located inside.
