The Embarcadero Building was built between 1957 and 1959 to store the minerals extracted and transformed in the mining town before being transported to different production centres throughout Europe.
For many years, after the closure of the mining operation, it was inactive, until it was restored through a project by the architectural studio of Fuensanta Nieto and Enrique Sobejano, National Architecture Award in 2007 in the category of building restoration, being inaugurated on March 23, 2011.
After its rehabilitation, the building is conceived as an Incubator for Companies and host associations, spaces and services aimed at supporting the start and consolidation of economic initiatives in the municipality, such as coworking stalls, offices, meeting rooms, an auditorium, exhibition spaces, a playroom, a cafeteria and various spaces for practices related to Creativity, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Specifically, the following spaces can be distinguished within it:
- Incubator for companies and associations;
- Cyber library (Cyberspace);
- Playroom (Game Wagon);
- Auditorium (Centrifuge);
- Meeting and seminar rooms;
- Exhibition spaces (Talent Corridor, Spiral Space, Exhibition Walkway)
- Open Space (space for open innovation), located on the penthouse floor
- Cafeteria.
- In addition, from the end of 2012 the offices of the Extremadura Business Activation Point (PAE) will be located here, which depends on the General Directorate of Enterprise of the Regional Government of Extremadura.
