Located in Rincón de la Monja, it depends on the Junta de Extremadura, and has its headquarters in Cáceres.
In 1995, the Regional Government of Extremadura decided to create an organisation that would accommodate different manifestations related to the world of image, the so-called Extremadura Image Centre. This was the seed of what years later, in 2003, would be born as the Extremadura Film Library.
