This group, church and convent, is located outside the Monumental City, next to the Plaza Mayor, and currently belongs to the Franciscan Order.
The church, one of the largest in Cáceres, was built in the 16th century. The façade is composed of a semicircular arch with vegetal decoration, and above it there is a niche with the image of the Immaculate Conception.
The interior has a Latin cross plan, with chapels between buttresses and an octagonal presbytery. It has a beautiful main altarpiece, dating from the 17th century, which is dominated by the polychrome sculpture of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, from the mid-18th century, made by Luis Salvador de Carmona.
Recommendations: To access the church you have to go through a gate and go down a staircase to the main door. The gate and the church are open when there are services.
