The City Council of Cáceres, through the Department of Celebrations, calls the Carnival Contest.
Between the 80s and 90s, Cáceres experienced its best Carnival, an extraordinary atmosphere that fell into a coma overnight until it disappeared completely with hardly any official programming. In 2012, a group of 400 people who were willing to bury the sardine, but not the parties, improvised a meeting in Cánovas and breathed a little breath of life into it. Since then, the event has been revitalized pushed by the Carnival Association.
