On the intersection of Rincón de la Monja st. and Cuesta del Marqués
On the intersection of Rincón de la Monja st. and Cuesta del Marqués is the house of Durán de la Rocha, a building from the sixteenth century that was renovated in the eighteenth century. It has a simple masonry façade with ashlar in the corners, but what calls the most attention are its coats of arms.
Those surrounding the window are: Alvarez de Toledo at the bottom; Torres and Nidos to the right; Rocha and Durán to to the left; Álvarez de Toro, Golfines, Mogollón and Herrera above the window under an alfiz; and finally, on the right side over a balcony, the Durán shield.
We know that this lineage came to Cáceres in the thirteenth century, shortly after the Reconquista, and ended with Dª Andrea Durán de la Rocha.
Recommendations: Currently, a curious English tavern is installed inside.
