It is one of the largest buildings in the city and is made up of a temple, different rooms grouped around two cloisters as well as a porter's lodge and a refectory.
Throughout its history, it has been the residence of famous people, the headquarters of the Scholastic Theology College and a relevant library, barracks and stables during the war, the provincial hospital, the house of mercy, the shelter for poor passers-by and the college-residence for orphans of the province.
In 1981, the San Francisco Cultural Complex - El Brocense Cultural Institute was established, which includes the "Eulogio Blasco" School of Fine Arts, the School of Dance and the Conservatory of Music.
At present, it devotes much of its time to holding congresses and exhibitions, in its large church-auditorium, four large halls, cloisters and other spaces, where concerts, theatrical performances, conferences and exhibitions are also held.
