Space destined to the development of innovative initiatives, which takes as conceptual reference the mythical garages of Sillicon Valley
The Garage 2.0 building, a former superphosphate warehouse built in 1960, was refurbished by the Cáceres City Council through a project by the architect D. Pedro Antonio Carranza Casillas, which combines its mining structure with an industrial finish and stands out for its functionality and light, and was inaugurated on 27 September 2013.
After its refurbishment, this building is conceived as a space for the creation of intellectual capital that allows companies dedicated to innovation, knowledge, imagination, technology and/or culture to collaborate with each other and participate in joint projects.
In order to meet this aim, the following spaces are integrated into it:
- The offices at the headquarters of the CENTRO EUROPEO DE EMPRESAS E INNOVACIÓN DE EXTREMADURA (CEEI de EXTREMADURA), which the Government of Extremadura, FUNDECYT-PCTEX, the Provincial Councils of Cáceres and Badajoz, and the City Council of Cáceres itself, have agreed to put into operation
- A module of offices for the accommodation of innovative companies of about 1,500 m2.
- The Innovation Factory (812m2), a space for companies and institutions to experiment, improve and disseminate their products and services related to knowledge and new technologies, in a collaborative environment, using new forms of interaction with customers and potential users. It consists of 8 fully equipped rooms.
- The Garage 2.0 Audiovisual Production Centre. This is a module specifically equipped to become a national and European reference centre in the audiovisual and multimedia field, increasing the international projection of Caceres as an innovative city. It consists of a TV set (107 m2), multimedia offices (146 m2), a control room and annexed spaces for auxiliary services of the set (230 m2).
