Birdwatching
This woodland bird with its unmistakable song is in general fairly common in the dehesas of Extremadura, arriving from Africa in the early spring. Like the Great Spotted Cuckoo, it is a parasitic breeder, choosing mainly the nests of small perching birds to lay its eggs in. After hatching the young cuckoo pushes the other eggs or chicks out of the nest and is then fed and brought up by its hoodwinked foster parents.
