The Tower of the Pulpits is about 16 metres high and the only one added to the wall after the Reconquista of Cáceres by the troops of King Alfonso IX of León.
This fact makes it different from the rest of the towers in various aspects. Unlike the Arab towers, it was built using stone ashlars instead of masonry or rammed earth, which gives it a different aesthetic.
In addition, it is the only tower that is linked by an arched bridge, erected in the eighteenth century, with a building inside the wall, specifically the Palace of Mayoralgo, so that its residents could see the spectacles held in main square.
Its name comes from the superior defences, resembling the pulpits of a church.
